Our Mission

The Kirkuk Center for Torture Victims is a non-profit organization caring for victims of torture, persecution and violence in Iraq. We seek to restore the dignity of survivors by offering them medical, psychosocial and legal services free of charge. We educate the public about the suffering of victims and advocate for their right to obtain rehabilitation.

Our Values

The core values guiding our work are enshrined in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. We help victims regardless of their age, gender, ethnicity or spiritual beliefs.

Our Task

During the past 40 years, generations of children and youths living in Iraq were not born free – they were born into a world of totalitarianism, trauma and terror. Many of their mothers and fathers have not enjoyed the right to life, liberty or security: numerous men and women were subjected to torture and inhuman treatment.

It is our responsibility to stand by the victims of these atrocities, to restore their dignity and to help survivors play an active role in the democratic society of Iraq.
